Sicilian Goodies

We've been stocking up on Sicilian goods! We only have a short time left before we move to Oklahoma, so we're taking advantage of the unique things we can find here. This picture is of Daddy and me with the Palermos. Giuseppe Palermo custom built a dining room table for us! (We're sitting on it.) This was before it was stained a rich espresso color they call "scuro" (dark in English). It's very nice, so Mommy & Daddy will have to figure out a way to keep me from destroying it once I'm mobile!

On Mother's Day, Daddy made waffles for Mommy, then we took her to Caltagirone - the city of ceramics - to buy her a special gift. Here we are in a shop where she picked out a plate to hang on a wall in our soon-to-be-new house!

Here I am with Aldo Cucuzza. He has a ceramics shop at the bottom of the famous tiled stairs of Caltagirone. Mommy has bought lots of things from him over the past 3 years! He commented on my "occhi azzurri" (blue eyes) and gave me a little, blue ceramic elephant as a gift.
